Honda EU2000i Generator Cart
Honda Power Equipment came to us with a problem. They manufacture this product:
It is a portable gas powered generator, which is not light when filled with gas, and awkward to carry, because of the position of the handle. Honda wanted us to develop a carrying cart for the generator that would be sold with the product.
Concept Modeling, Round 1
I started this project by creating a rough model of the generator using Alias design software. This model was based around the actual dimensions of the product. I then worked with a cart manufacturer to identify products that could be adapted. I developed several initial concepts for review with the cart manufacturer.
Concept Modeling, Round 2
Once I had some initial feedback on the ideas, and explored comparable products on the market, I was able to create a round of concepts that better addressed customer and manufacturer needs. Here are three views of three separate concepts:
The cart manufacturer and I presented these ideas to Honda, and they selected the top concept to move forward with.
